So many of the “normal” routines and behaviors engrained in our culture were born by the precise wording, persuasive calculation and emotional manipulation of marketing and ad agencies.
Orange juice in the morning is one of them. This arbitrary fruit became “the” breakfast drink thanks to Albert Lasker and his marketing firm Lord & Thomas, who created a campaign to get rid of excessive orange production by their client The California Fruit Growers Exchange (CFGE) in in the 1900s
Do we need it? No. It is good? Yes. Can it be better? Of course!
Just add two more ingredients and turn any ordinary (and subliminally imposed) orange juice into a disease fighting super-drink.
Regular orange juice is transformed into an impressive nutritious drink by adding a vegetable: carrots, and a root: turmeric.
These three ingredients, each of it with their own remarkable nutritional benefits, combined perfectly (not only in flavor but in color as well) to form a potent juice you can enjoy any time, not just breakfast.
Deep orange color, light texture and terse orange flavor. Keeps well refrigerated.
Squeezed, poured or juiced, a solid citrus with a sweet tar flavor, floral tones, smooth texture and intense yellow color juice.
While carrot-only juice exists, the best use for this root is mixed with fruits, vegetables and leafy greens.
This rhizome is loaded with healthy benefits and it only needs a small amount to improve the color, flavor and nutrition of any juice recipe.
Peel fruit, cut into wedges, remove pits. Optionally, use organic, low sugar juice from a bottle.
Clean but do not peel. Cut into sticks.
Remove dark spots but do not peel. Cut into small pieces.
Mix the tree ingredients making sure to keep the orange from clogging the juicer.
